8 Simple Questions to ask when choosing a Wedding Venue

Choosing a wedding venue is one of the most important choices you will need to make when planning for your big day. When it comes to making this huge decision, you and your partner should both be on board with the final choice.

One thing to keep in mind is that wedding venues are often booked quite far in advance, which means that you will need to make your decision far in advance as well. With that being said, don’t rush to any conclusions. Your research and make sure that you make a sound choice.

To help you discern what factors you will need to consider, read below. There, you will find several important questions you need to ask about and explore before making this final choice.

1. Is our date of choice available?

Before you can move on with anything, you need to know that your date of choice is available at the venue. If you’re flexible, this question may not be quite as important.

2. Do you work with specific caterers, DJs or rental agencies who you would recommend?

Some spaces that host many weddings each year often work with the same caterers, bakeries, DJs, musicians and rental agencies for things like chairs and tables. They may be able to recommend these businesses to you or offer affiliate discounts.

3. Are there any restrictions on alcohol?

If you plan to serve wine, beer or liquor at your wedding, you need to make sure that your possible location has the appropriate licensure.

4. How many people can this space accommodate?

If you already know the number of guests you will have at your wedding, you must make sure that there are no restrictions on this number at the venue you are perusing.

5. What preparation goes into this space? Will we need to prepare it and cleanup?

There will certainly be some decorating that you want to do at your venue, so you should make sure you know what you’ll need to do to prepare the space and what you’ll need to do to take everything down and possibly clean up.

6. What is included in the rental of this space?

Make sure you know what things are included when you rent the venue. Some venues well have chairs and tables available while others will only have the space itself.

7. Are refunds available if we change our mind and decide to cancel, and if so, what is the cutoff date?

No one wants to cancel a venue, but if you need to, you need to know that you’ll get a refund.

8. How much is the deposit, and how much will everything cost when all is said and done?
